Our Story

2024 marked an exciting milestone with the formation of the Women in Canmaking Association (WICA). To truly appreciate this moment, let’s rewind 30 years to when Janis Osborn and Martha Rojas first crossed paths at a canmaking exhibition. At the time, Janis was pioneering the first online magazine for metal packaging, while Martha was making a name for herself in logistics. Both were struck by the glaring underrepresentation of women in the industry – a realization that ignited their shared vision for change.

Over the decades, the canmaking industry has made significant progress, yet the call for greater female representation remains unmet. In April 2024, at Latamcan in Argentina, Janis and Martha found themselves deep in conversation once again – this time joined by Sarah Davidson, who had been successfully leading Roeslein’s own initiative to support female employees. Inspired by their shared vision, the trio united to launch WICA.

WICA is a brand-new, modern association driven by its passionate founders, dedicated members, and generous sponsors. It is committed to creating meaningful change and elevating the roles of women within the industry for the benefit of all.
